Blackpool and the Fylde College - Operation NADĚJA (Hope)
Blackpool and the Fylde College have been coordinating efforts along with Veterans Army UK. The Veteran’s Army has been inundated with donations of medical supplies that had been stored and sent over from Bolton to Ukraine
However, the Veterans Army UK needs support to ensure they have enough funds to deliver the donations, especially with the rising cost of fuel.
Our Public services learners took action to support the Veteran Army UK, to ensure the Charity has enough funds to ensure the medical equipment and donations reaches the Military Hospital in Mukachevo Ukraine. Public Services linked with other curriculum areas to ensure the event was a ‘cross college event.’
The event took place on Thursday 17th March 2022 and consisted of:
-A Bike ride based in the college entrance where staff and students cycled all day to cover the equivalent distance to from B&FC (Blackpool & the Fylde College) to Mukachevo Military Hospital, Ukraine. (1400.2 miles).
-A Raffle, Name the Teddy and Guess the weight of the sweets.
-A Cupcake sale, where all the cakes were baked on site by our Bakery students
-Decorations and a large map were provided by our travel and tourism students.
Overall, the event managed to raise over £800 that will be donated to the Veterans Army to help them deliver much needed medical supplies to a military field hospital in Mukachevo Ukraine.
