Award Categories

Volunteer of the Year (Staff)

Recognises an individual staff member who has demonstrated a significant commitment to volunteering, making a positive impact on the community or cause, or enhancing volunteering opportunities within their own college or local community.

Volunteer of The Year (Student)

Recognises an inspiring student who has achieved great things within a volunteering role at their own college and or in their local community, alongside studying. This may include but is not exclusive to showing leadership, initiative, and dedication for the benefit of others.

Volunteering Team of the Year

Recognises the impact a team has made to significantly impact a community. The team’s activities should demonstrate commitment and sustainability showing their dedication to making a difference. The team approach should include some sort of innovation and creativity to addressing the community’s needs. Collaboration and co-operation as well as teamwork will sit at the heart of this category.

Volunteering College of the Year

Recognises a college or collection of colleges that has volunteering as a core value. Colleges that actively support and promote community engagement through various initiatives. Partnerships with local nonprofits, charities or other organisations within the community that highlight the college’s overall commitment to volunteering and community service.

Fundraiser of the Year

Recognises an individual, team or college and the overall impact and success the fundraiser has had in terms of funds raised, percentage of goal achieved, and the difference made in the cause of the organisation supported. Consider the level of community involvement and participation generated by the level of fundraising. This may include high performance or achievement rates, innovative ways engaging in fundraising and going the extra mile conducting voluntary work alongside work, study, etc.

Social Impact Award

Recognises an individual, college or team. The project or initiative should have a measurable and positive impact on society, addressing a specific social issue or need. You may wish to consider innovative approaches, technologies, or solutions to tackle social challenges. Long-term sustainability and scalability may be included, as well as the development of partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Outstanding Service/ Lifelong Commitment to Volunteering

Recognises an individual who has demonstrated a significant impact on the community or individuals through volunteer efforts. Showing long term dedication and consistent involvement in the volunteer work. Introducing innovative approaches to address community needs or enhancing the effectiveness of volunteer projects. Contribution to sustainable and long-lasting positive change through volunteering efforts.

Charity Partner of the Year

This category recognises a charity partner of a college who has demonstrated a significant and positive impact on the community or cause. Showing what a successful partnership looks like and the success of collaboration with other stakeholders to raise the profile of either the charity, its cause and or the college. Communication and outreach showing engagement with other organisations.
