Student Success Stories

Here are some stories of FE students who took part in our Good for Me Good for FE accreditation pilot project, delivered in partnership with NCFE.

With NCFE’s endorsement, the programme provided formal recognition of learners’ achievements, underpinned by clear standards and quality assurance. Students who completed the pilot programme were awarded a digital badge, giving them verified evidence of the personal and employability skills they have developed through meaningful volunteering. This recognition supports their progression and helps them confidently demonstrate their skills to future employers.

By contributing to their communities, these young people have strengthened their confidence, developed valuable workplace skills and made a tangible difference. The following case studies celebrate their achievements and highlight the positive impact of the programme on their development and next steps.

Courtney, Nottingham College

Courtney has already faced many challenges in her life, being adopted and living with autism and bipolar disorder, which sometimes makes it hard for her to focus in class. But despite these challenges, Courtney proved to herself just how much she could achieve.

Having only been in the UK for two years, Shalom was eager to get involved in their local community and build new connections. Taking part in the Good for Me Good for FE volunteering award gave them the opportunity to work alongside classmates to research and support local charities.
