Partnership with Solidarity Hull
Solidarity Hull is a local charity led by former Wyke Student President, Kiza David. Alongside his studies as a medical student, Kiza dedicates his time to running the charity, which provides vital support to the local community, offering services such as food banks and free activities for children during school holidays. Wyke recently connected with Kiza to explore opportunities for collaboration between Solidarity Hull and the college. He was enthusiastic about involving Wyke students, and as a result, around seven students were linked with the charity over the Easter holidays. They supported a range of free activities for children, gaining valuable experience while making a positive impact. Feedback from students has been incredibly positive, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are keen to continue volunteering. Wyke is now working closely with Kiza to explore how this partnership can be developed and expanded even further.
Kiza David said:
'The students were a great help, they were able to form a quick relationship with the children and build a rapport with them. The helped the sessions to run smoothly and make sure everyone had a fun time. The students said they enjoyed the sessions and would volunteer again the summer.'

'I really enjoyed volunteering with the children during their horse riding session. It was such a rewarding experience and seeing how much joy they got from being around the horses made it all so meaningful. Kiza was really friendly and helpful throughout the session alongside the staff looking after the horses who were also happy to answer any questions we had. It's something I'd genuinely love to be a part of again.'
