Ozmah Khan – Sheffield College
Sheffield College held a talent show and raised money for Sheffield Children's Hospital, “we were blown away with the talent on the day and the event was enjoyed by all who attended”.
Ozmah is currently working with her learners on fundraising for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and have set a target of raising £1,000. They are halfway there and have held a variety of sales - cakes, sweets and an Easter raffle. They will be inviting a representative from Yorkshire Air Ambulance into college to present the money raised to them later this year.
They have also worked with Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care. This is a local charity that co-ordinates a broad range of services for older people working in partnership with Sheffield City council and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We took part in the 12 Days of Christmas Appeal, making hampers of essential food supplies for older people who were discharged from hospital, helping them leave hospital sooner.
Our Health and Social Care students took up volunteering opportunities, supporting older people who may have nobody else to turn to for practical or friendly support.
